lim·bo

/ˈlimbō/  noun  an intermediate or transitional place or state

Ah, spring.

One day the sun is out, the birds are chirping, and the flowers are starting to bloom. The next day, it’s rainy and gloomy. The day after that is brisk and blah, but pretty much quintessential Midwestern spring. That day is today. The birds are still chirping, but alot of the flower blooms have snuggled back into themselves.

Today is the kind of day that brings the husky joy. He’s still in shoulder season, too. He’s started to shed his winter coat, but we are a long way from being done with that adventure.

When we partake in our afternoon strolls around the neighborhood, I always listen to something. Some days it's books, other days it's music. I’ve learned over time that whatever I am in the mood for content-wise is often a reflection of my headspace in general.

Today, I opted to trust the universe and Amazon’s algorithms by hitting play on a random shuffle of “My Likes and More.” It is usually a pretty eclectic mix…and the bots did not disappoint today.

Today’s mix featured the expected voices of Taylor, Ed, and Gracie, but was otherwise dominated by instrumental covers of pop music. (The Piano Guys Sweet Child o’ Mine is like some kind of magical musical fairy dust.)

Something fascinating happens to my brain when that kind of fluid music intersects with the fresh air and sounds of spring. It starts running wild, which makes me appreciate the voice recorder on my phone because otherwise, there would be no hope of remembering it all.

The thing about my own limbo time is that I have spent time learning all sorts of random things.

Baking, which has always been a love language of mine, has become an expensive hobby now, given the price of eggs ($9.34/two dozen was this morning’s price) and pretty much every other ingredient.

I’ve also always been intrigued by astrology, but now I know how to read my own natal chart, and how to do it in the context of transits.

This week has been one for the record, or dare I say history, books. Errr, both.

If you’ve spent any time at all watching the more renowned astrology forecasters, they have all been saying 2025 is going to be a wild ride.

March sure was. The astrological highlights included Venus retrograde in Aries, Mercury retrograde in Aries, Blood Moon Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo, Spring Equinox, Partial Solar Eclipse in Aries, and Neptune’s transition into Aries. (You might want to Google what happened the last time Neptune was in Aries.)

We can hope things might calm down when the planets start moving forward again.

Mercury and Venus both transited back into Pisces during their retrogrades, and once they go direct will start the journey back into Aries. Pisces is considered the end of the western zodiac, representing the completion of a cycle, and symbolized by water. Aries is thus the beginning, and symbolized by fire. So if the last month has felt like being on a drunken pirate ship…well…

Google Gemini’s version of that paragraph graphically depicted (learning AI tools has been fun too!)

April is likely to be equally unpredictable. Mercury goes direct on the 7th, but doesn’t get back into Aries until the 16th. Venus goes direct on the 12th, but doesn’t get back into Aries until the 30th. You know what else happens on the 12th - a Full Moon in Libra. Mars enters Leo on the 17th, and then things start to flow. The month ends with a Super New Moon in Taurus, which might actually bring some relief…we can all hope.

But there is just a whole lot of astrological juice sitting in limbo on the cusp of Pisces and Aries that we will have to work through this year.
